Remember the Gulf!
Heritage Foundation

These reminders are necessary because after the moment of impact passes, people’s attention is drawn to other major events. Rarely ever, however, is the phrase used while the crisis continues unabated; while the administration that the media needs to hold accountable flounders in a sea of ineptitude, red tape and finger pointing. It has now been nearly 3 months since the Deepwater Horizon platform exploded, killing eleven workers, and setting in motion the spill still gushing today. Over that time, the outflow has gotten worse, goals have been missed and attention has waned.
The Gulf oil spill may be the first time in U.S. history that a president and the national media’s attention need to be refocused on a crisis while it is still, in fact, underway. Remember the Gulf. To be fair, even when focused, the administration continues to flounder. Obama’s cabinet, including the EPA, continues to let ridiculous regulations stand in the way of oil being removed from the water. Skimmers that discharge separated water containing less than 1% of oil residue are being met with bureaucracy. Local authorities were unnecessarily stopped from dredging to build protective sand berms, out of concern the dredging was too close to the shoreline. The environmentalists who wish to protect our nation from some uncertain catastrophe are ignoring the one happening right this very moment. According to the Associated Press, thousands of volunteers remain on the sidelines endlessly waiting for instructions. Skimmers remain docked at port.

water depth. Obama's original moratorium was struck down by the 5th Circuit, as "arbitrary and capricious”. This ban also applies to most deep-water drilling activities and is certain to face another court challenge by angry and desperate oil industry interest including.Meanwhile, Obama's approval ratings have slipped to a record low, according to a just released Washington Post/ABC poll. The article states that "nearly six in 10 voters say they lack faith in the president to make the right decisions for the country." Furthermore, the article reports that those most likely to vote in the upcoming election "prefer the GOP over continued Democratic rule by a sizable margin of 56 percent to 41 percent."
White House spokesman Robert Gibbs was uncharacteristically honest about Democrats' prospects of retaining control of the House of Reps recently, don't expect him to concede on Obama's high negatives and unpopular agenda. Despite Obama's best efforts to change the subject to "anything but the economy," this seems to have only frustrated Americans more with BO's agenda. Most now realize he has no idea how to address the current economic situation and encourage job growth, but the majority also oppose virtually every other domestic agenda item he has put forth: energy tax, ObamaCare, immigration "reform," DADT repeal, DISCLOSE Act… just pick one.

get no answer. But a rather special sort of ‘no answer’. It is not the locked door. It is more like a silent, certainly not uncompassionate gaze. As though he shook his head not in refusal but in waiving the question. Like, ‘Peace, child; you do not understand. ’" - A Grief Observed, C. S. Lewis
In our last poll we asked, should the Obama White House "Stand Down" on the Deep Water Drilling Moratorium as ordered by Judge Martin Feldman? 90 percent said "Yes", and 10 percent said "NO"
This week's question:
Will the new cap being placed on the Deep Water Horizon rig in the gulf hold?
YES or NO?

subsidize campus groups it considers discriminatory. The CLS excludes homosexuals and non-Christians. But isn't the court allowing the university to discriminate against the beliefs of the Christian group, especially if the group is now required to admit people who violate teachings central to its faith and mission statement? Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said the school's policy, which requires student organizations to be open to everyone to qualify for official status, ‘ensures that no Hastings student is forced to fund a group that would reject her as a member. Would this apply to a member of CLS if they applied for membership in the gay-lesbian-bisexual-transgender club, or anything else? Will campus Jewish groups be required to admit Christians? Maybe the football team can bring a discrimination suit against the school for not allowing them to shower with the women's lacrosse team. The court's ruling in the CLS case is no less far-fetched. The way the legal game is played, the beliefs of Christian groups can be regularly offended, but gay and other groups favored by the secular left enjoy special status from academic elites. This is what passes for pluralism, tolerance and academic freedom on college campuses. Read Mr. Thomas’ full article in the Patriot Post here.“Irrational Prejudice”?

In Gill v. Office of Personnel Management the judge held there was no “rational basis” for limiting marriage to a man and a
woman. He thus found it to be “irrational prejudice” in violation of Equal Protection. This rationale used by the judge(that traditional marriage violates Equal Protection) would literally overrule every marriage law and even state constitutional amendment in the country. The U.S. Constitution trumps state laws and even state constitutions. This rationale, if it continues on appeal, will overturn all marriage laws in every state.
