Head Start: A $150 Billion Failure
The Heritage Foundation
January
15, 2010

A new
( long overdue ) report published by the Department of Health and Human found that the $150 billion that taxpayers have “invested” in Head Start since 1965 is yielding zero lasting benefits for participating children. According to the Head Start Impact Study : “the benefits of access to Head Start at age four are largely absent by 1st grade for the program population as a whole.” The Heritage Foundation reviews the findings of the new evaluation in a forthcoming Backgrounder report. Authors David Muhlhausen and Dan Lips conclude: “Head Start has little to no effect on cognitive, socio-emotional, health, and parenting outcomes of children participating in the program.”

Compassion In Action: PRC
LFF Action Commentary
January 19, 2010

The recent earthquake in Haiti is reportedly the worst natural disaster in the western hemisphere in the last 200 years. The magnitude of destruction is still unfolding, but we can be sure of this: this is a time when the body of Christ has an opportunity to stand up and engage a need by shining the light of hope and the love of Jesus in Haiti.
Engage the Immediate Needs by Giving
Two main ways you can give to help:
http://prccompassion.net and http://healingplacechurch.org/haiti
Relief supplies can be dropped off at Healing Place Church. Please visit http://healingplacechurch.org/haiti for a list of acceptable items.
Help us prepare for Future Recovery and Rebuilding
PRC Chaplain Glenn Barras’s Servants of All Ministries will be our contact in this endeavor. ( http://www.servantsofallministry.com ). Glenn has been a missionary to Haiti for many years. Servants for All has an orphanage and several churches with trained evangelists there. The ministry provides the water well in their community.

PRC’s twittername is PRC_Compassion http://twitter.com/PRC_Compassion

Who Dat Nation!
LFF Commentary
January 19, 2010
They’re Back…the “Who Dat” Nation! Fully loaded, they delighted the souls of Saints fans everywhere, Saturday, by handling a capable Cardinals team (45-14). and a “Pants on the ground” fed-up, fired-up Brett Favre.
The New Orleans Saints' next objective is a classical showdown with the Minnesota Vikings. The "pants on the ground" fired up Brett Favre returns to face his "secret favorite team". The Saints will march in with a Louisiana style play hard, pray hard and work hard victory.
Geaux Saints!
